Yep - it is Monday

Post by Scraprageous on Mon Mar 08, 2010 9:32 am

Oldest kids are visiting Grandparents in another state (their spring break). Youngest two just seemed shocked that school was continuing for them this am Shocked Shocked (home school). Just finished a debate with one having to end it with the old, "I am your mom and too bad" statement. Sometimes his debating skills drive me nuts!!! He has generally good arguments, however, in the long run, I know he will appreciate a spring break more during a nice, non-rainy week when they can work and play outside.

Also - a new mom rule today (these are the rules you never thought you would have to make - like no swinging like George of the Jungle from mom's full length curtains, no using golf clubs to tee off the tops of steps into Mom's closet, etc.). Now they know - if you have blood coming out of your ears, you need to tell mom. Nothing serious - just a cut, but with the blood - couldn't tell until I did some cleaning/looking. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Yep - it is a Monday Smile Beginning to think that girlfriends invite to Crafts Direct (closest thing to lss - 5 rows of scrap stuff!) is sounding a ton better! How can I incorporate school into a craft store??? (already did the buying of supplies for history - any other ideas LOL)

A whole craft store? How about a project? DD has to make a model of the coliseum for Latin class. I'm sure you can come up with something relevant. what are your studying?

we ended up making ink pens/quills from feathers and making our inks, also finished stage one of mousetrap racers - hopefully we race by Wed/Thursday. Woodburning was tried out further as well. We discovered that the higher quality leather I had burned much better than what came with youngest sons kit.

Finally - began looking at a Leonardo Da Vinci Treasure Chest - inventions, engineering, architecture and art of the Renaissance. The Da Vinci thing doesn't fit too well with our current historical period (US History Louisana Purchase, Jefferson and Lewis/Clark), but it is really fun. love using copies of original documents for history/art Smile

Ended up skipping the craft store today, but may go tomorrow - planning to make pillow cases, zipper bags and something else (not 100% sure yet) and doing more wood burning. They have the fabric for their pillow cases, but we need some zippers for the small bags.

They are good with budget stuff - they are in charge of the grocery shopping once a month - have been for two years now (I do one trip, they do the other). They also have budgeting in other projects (building materials, building/pen planning, etc.).

Thanks for the ideas Smile
