Scrapbook Albums

Post by Scraprageous on Sun Jan 16, 2011 7:16 am

Just curious how you go about deciding what to scrap? Mine is to grab what strikes my fancy. Some pics get duplicated for kids - but not many (about 4-5 per year and layouts are different).

Several people do kid by kid plus family ones (I hadn't met so many women doing the really large albums before - they are cool, just too big for me), some go event by event, some chronologically, others create three+ identical pages so everyone gets one.

Just thinking about re-doing my photos again -kids are old enough to not get into them, plus I have a few boxes I found when re-organizing. Rather than my eclectic method, I think some actual method may work better. One lady I sat near completed quite a few pages - she does more embellishing, but her organization just amazed me. She didn't prep kits or anything - just had pics, papers, embellishments sorted by person and events.

P.S. My biggest thrill - I finished off a kit I had put together and didn't care for the papers - changed a few, left some others, did some piecing and now I like my layouts!

Not a ton of pages completed as I was helping hostess, but I think I did get about 10 done, plus finished the flowers I need for a swap Smile

I might use both double photo for two different layouts, but I haven't duplicated pages. Although I have thought about making two of the same pages, but I figured they boys probably didn't need the same page and they can just pick and choose which pages they want once they get there own families.

When in need of an album, I look for sales and the size is usually 12x12. I would like to try those huge albums, but probably never will....unless I see one at a really really great price.

I do all of the above, but I do not duplicate pages. It's insane. I have an album each year for each daughter, a yearly family album, a Christmas album, a continuing Halloween album (includes about 5 years), the same for Easter, and then I have some occassion albums. There are albums everywhere in my house. Plus I tend to procrastinate about putting completed pages in albums so those are everywhere also. I am absolutely no help to you...sorry.

I am not much help in this because when I scrap albums, it's because of a special event. We don't have kids so we don't take a lot of pictures. Now, we are doing a little travelling like short 1-2 days trips and we bought a really nice camera and plan to do some more picture taking if we can figure out how it works. LOL.

I get my photos printed and then scrap as the spirit moves me! I do mostly 12x12 albums, by year. (I don't scrap the pages chronologically, jut put them in the albums by year) I have albums and stacks of pages all over, in various stages of completion! Completed pages that need to go into albums, albums that need to be rebound, albums that need pictures or journaling added....
My kids and family love looking through the books.

I do have a few smaller specialty albums that I made from swap kits-usually the page a month type.
