Rolodex Card Swap

Post by Scraprageous on Thu May 26, 2011 6:24 am

I keep hearing about these. I finally found a you-tube video with some pictures (I couldn't find web-sites - if you know of one, please post).

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] src="[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] width="425" height="350" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" quality="high" scale="exactfit">

anyway - they look like fun - would anyone be interested? I can't set up until July, but plan would be to e-mail a pdf of a plain rolodex card size to everyone in the group so that we are creating the same size holes at the bottom. (It is the size of the Sizzix rolodex card - original one, I need to find the right number, but want to be sure we are all on the same page/designing the same size).

The cards we make will be a bit taller than the store bought ones. Not a problem - it is the hole placement that needs to be perfect.

Anyway - My question - since these go into a file - they kind of remind me of an ATC. Guessing they aren't used on a page? Or, are they?

Has anyone ever done a rolodex swap before?

ooooh i like that! I'd definitely join that swap-and July is good. never done one of these before. If they are taller then the standard cards, they could be dividers in the r'dex. I love how she stuck the pin in the pop dot behind the flower.

I think they could be used on a page if flatter embellies, but i like them in the file.

I've done one of these swaps, it was fun! I can't remember how we ended up getting the right hole positions, but some how we did Smile

One idea is making all cards the right size and having each person cut their own holes?

Yes (one of my first thoughts), but we don't want to mess up designs - that is why I was thinking of emailing a pdf with an outline of where the holes go (and card size). That way when they are created, everyone could pre-cut the holes. It looks like a square hand punch done twice and then cut a skinny opening at the bottom would work. Still checking Smile

I have done one swap a lot of years ago and still have my cards--they are fun to look at. I think the hostess punched all the cards once she got them and we just left a little room at the bottom maybe for the punched holes??

The punch I have is a sizzix, so doing it after would be tough, however, I think it would work with my square punch and a clip

sooo - I think that would work - what does everyone think

If we all punched with a template then the hostess wouldn't have to worry about punching a gazillion cards maybe?

I could always send out punched cards to everyone? (ok, takes me awhile to get there Smile).

Just on cheap white cardstock - then everyone can either cover or use as a template.

Or, I could punch out of chipboard

Am I worrying too much about holes? scratch
