May 2012
Thank you to our special guest challenger this month, KMG/Karen! In spite of being sick, she has still come up with some fabulous challenges for us!
_____________________________________________________________
Since Helen had us scrap 56 photos, this month we will use no photos! Just Kidding
__________________________________________________________________
After scrapping so many photographs last month, how about a bit of a twist on due dates this month?
We will do something similar, but completely different.
Week One (ending May 7th) Deadline to post these two challenges is May 7th at noon CST. You may post any challenge early, but not late. Please be sure to give it the appropriate title so it can be counted correctly.
Color Challenge Green. This month we will be using a lot of different materials, some help us with recycling, others with re-purposing. So, the Color challenge is green - just like the theme for the prize with this challenge.
Throw-away Challenge. Use something you would normally trash in your paper project. Take a photo of your item prior to using it as well as a photo of your final layout/card.
Week Two (ending May 14th) Deadline to post these two challenges is May 14th at noon CST. You may post any challenge early, but not late. Please be sure to give it the appropriate title so it can be counted correctly.
Office supply- use an office supply (rubberbands, paper clips, white-out etc) on your paper project. If it is not easy to see, please take a photo before and after.
Use a swap - you can always use swaps on any project, but for this one, be sure to let us know what the swap item is!
Week Three (ending May 21st) Deadline to post these two challenges is May 21st at noon CST. You may post any challenge early, but not late. Please be sure to give it the appropriate title so it can be counted correctly.
Sew what- use stitching or the look of stitching on your paper project. You can use hand sewing, machine sewing, pen and ink 'sewing' or even rub-ons. If there is another alternative -go ahead and use it, just make sure it has some sewing involved.
Incredible Inchies or even Terrific Twinchies! Use inchies or twinchies (1x1 or 2x2) on your paper project.
Week Four (ending May 31st) Deadline to post these two challenges is May 31st at noon CST. You may post any challenge early, but not late. Please be sure to give it the appropriate title so it can be counted correctly.
Zig-Zag= interpret this anyway you want. It can be using pinking shears or a zig-zag stitch or the placement of your photos etc.
MAY BONUS (Surprise, Karen, I am adding one): Create something with a bird and a soft item. They can be photos, paper piecing, paper pattern, whatever. Just include a bird and a soft item on the same project. This bonus can be combined with one of the above, just be sure to indicate such on the posting (example: Incredible Inchies and May Bonus or something like that). Odd prize with this.
Remember your projects can be Lay Outs, cards, tags anything you make from paper.

Re: May 2012
I used smooth regular paper, but when I learned about using the plastic from the designer (Juliana Michaels) she used alcohol inks on hers to make some stain glass(plastic) hanging art....really pretty! I'm not sure if she posted it on her blog, but here's her blog to see other great creations of hers......also check out the Over the Rainbow video.

Re: May 2012
Note: You can 'combine' the challenges as long as the pieces can stand on their own and are posted at the appropriate times.
Challenge 3 - Office Supply - those prong holder things - I don't know how else to describe them.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Challenge 4 - Use a swap. I don't remember who created this wonderful tag (I know it was KMG's for the Birds swap), but it is perfect for this project.
Here is the swap
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Here is the project (with the swap and a few more pictures)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Closed (based on the Creating Keepsakes Mother's day card class)

Great project Lucinda! I have some of those prong things and never know what to do with them.Did you use it as an embelishment or is it functional (ie- lifts up)?
That is a tag I made, like to see swaps in use!

Re: May 2012
thanks - the prong is to hold the little pad of paper together - I have embossed the prong thingy's before. They also do great with alcohol inks. I just left plain for this one as dd may want to add more pages, so functionality was important.
BTW - she loved it. She may not like to scrap very much, but she loves handcrafted gifts! It was for her completion of first year final exams!!
