Adhesives (again)

Post by Scraprageous on Wed Jan 18, 2012 5:53 am

What do you use to put your mini albums together?

I have used tape runners (i.e. like score tape or the one in the blue/white box), liquid glue, etc.. However, with this climate (cold), I think I need to change back to using tacky glue again for the majority of items because I have too many things releasing when cold (something I want to avoid).

Glue dots seem to hold well, but otherwise, most of the runners seem to release over time Sad

What do you use for really good holds? I know even the self stick K&Co letters release (as do WeRmemory keepers and quite a few other brands I have, so I usually look at albums with adhesive nearby these days Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes - getting better - yesterday nothing was loose!!!)

The tacky glue doesn't say if it is acid free or not, only my 3M one does. Anyone know if the tacky glue is acid free/photo safe?

If you mean Aileens Tacky Glue- the info says- not acid neutral

I mostly use my ATG and I also use alot of Glue dots as they come in so many sizes and thickness.

Pink ATG, score tape (doubles sided tape with the red backing any brand is good so far), and glue dots!

Well, I have decided that, while the Martha Stewart tape roller may hold well, the applicator is very, very poor.

I used that tape (found on clearance, so good price - now I know why) for my matchbook albums. Yes, I powered through - even though it was easier to toss the applicator and just run the tape on (boy it was a pain). So happy when I finished using the up (I had 18 for the project - happy dance now that they are gone!!!).

Never buying them again - back to my ATG, Tombow, 3M liquid type glue and score tape.

However, I did find a great deal on American Crafts tape runners - 2 runners, 4 refills and three rolls of tape (red type) for $5.98! Couldn't pass that one up [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Very Happy

Hope they work well. My lss usually runs various refills on sale for $2 every about third month. Tombow was this month (only a 5 day sale - just lucked into remembering). American Crafts is usually in the fall - so I figured now I have some applicators and adhesive to try. If it works - great! If not, I am really not out that much $$ as the red tape in the pack usually runs 3.99 at the store.
