52 Week Swap Round 2 - Due June 12, 2012

Post by Scraprageous on Tue Feb 21, 2012 7:49 am

Since this swap is a create and mail, we will be starting 4/10/2012 if
we have at least 5 participants. Max of 8 participants for this really
fun swap.

Remember - all items are to be layered twice, embellished twice and only send what you think is nice!

All
items are to have two embellishments (samples include inking, bling,
sanding, embossing, ribbon, buttons, brads, etc.. remember that flat
stickers do not count) You can always ask if you are not sure Smile

All standard swap rules apply. Be sure you have read [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]thread BEFORE joining in any of these groups. Ask questions if you don't understand something. This is a really fun, but rigorous swap.
If you are not sure about joining this swap, you can try for a single
round (create 8 items per week for 8 weeks) and then drop out. However,
due to the nature of this swap, I ask that you let me know before the
next round has started if you plan to drop out so I can find a
replacement swapper.

Read all rules listed [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for guidelines in how to create your items.

_________________________________________________________
Week One - April 10
Flower Shapes. Quantity 1 per person if at least 2.5", 2 if smaller. Use any color you want and create a flower item(s) for this spot in the swap. Flowers can be flat or three dimensional.

Week Two - April 17
Yellows. Create any swap item with the main color some shade of yellow. Any shade of yellow is acceptable. Have fun!

Week Three - April 24
Basic Gray Paper. Choose any line you like that is less than 3 years old
and create a swap item for each person in the group. It could be a
bookmark, a journal item, deco squares, a photo mat - whatever! Pick a
favorite line and enjoy creating!

Week Four - May 1
This
week, our theme is shoes. What goes better with purses than shoes? Create a paper piecing or a journal item or a
tag or anything you can come up with utilizing the theme shoes. It
doesn't matter what, just that it relates to a shoe in some manner.

Week Five - May 8
ATC - This week, we will be creating masculine looking ATC's. The sky is the limit so have fun and enjoy yourself.

Week Six - May 15
CHOICE
- This is the week where you get to choose what and how to create. If
you find a fantastic sale on something scrappy (altered items, various
papers, embellishments, etc..), this is your chance to shine! Think new
techniques, New swap items, etc.. Even if you decide it needs to be an
embellishment baggie - that will work too. Note: if you decide on an
embellishment baggie - minimum requirements are 5 different types of
items. (example of minimal embellishment baggie would be 1 yard of
fiber/ribbon [each piece at least 12" long], 5 buttons, 3 chipboard
sticker items, a strip of bling and 4 diecut shapes.)

Week Seven - May 22
International Jazz Day (5/22) - in honor of International Jazz Day, we will be
creating an item with a Jazz theme. This doesn't mean just Jazz,
but you can also think of all the items associated with Jazz.

Week Eight - May 29
Journal
Item (with or without pocket) - let's keep it simple for this final
week of the first round and create some fun journal items. The theme
for this particular item can match up with any of the previous 7 weeks.
Pick one you enjoyed and make this a coordinating embellishment!

Mailing
date: ship to arrive to me by June 12 (two weeks after last week
starts - this is the typical time frame). I will do my best to ship out
within a week. This will be affected if participants are late. If
people are late once and keep communication going - great and we will
get these done. If continually late, you could be removed from the
group. If no communication, you will be removed from the swap
(unfortunately I had to remove someone last round).

This swap is a
total blast and a lot of fun to do. The rules are minimal to allow for
creativity. Have fun and create! If you have a new idea of something
to try - it is ok to do it with this. Just let me know ahead of time so
we can be sure embellishments and all match.

The easiest method
for shipping (if all 8 participants are the same for all 8 weeks) is to
label a bag for each person. Put their items into that bag. As we get
to know each other, it makes some of the rounds really fun because you
can create a bit more personal item.

A few more notes regarding the 52 week swaps.

First
- this swap requires some creative thinking. I don't have anyone sign
up for specific swap items each time to allow creativity to spark.

Second
- you are always allowed to do a different swap item than what our list
of items includes - just shoot me a quick pm and we can cover
embellishing and all if you aren't sure. Remember last year - sometimes
items fell into standard swap categories, sometimes they didn't, but
everything was wonderful.

Third - use your stash! There are not
buying requirements very often for this swap - ON PURPOSE! With so many
talented swappers out there, this is a wonderful opportunity to use
what you have and create something fun without a lot of shopping. Every
single item does not have to be identical for each participant - just
has to follow the guidelines listed for that week.

Week One in
each round will be a shape. Please plan to create one single shape with
a diameter of approximately 3.5" or two per person if they are smaller
in size.

Week Two will involve color. Please use a nice
cardstock when creating your items. If you use a thinner cardstock,
that is allowed (sometimes the flat cardstocks get pretty thin), just
add another layer or backing. For week two, you can use a maximum of
one patterned paper, however, that pattern needs to be predominately a
shade of the color for the week.

Week Three is the week that
involves a specific company line for the swap. You may use any line the
company has created, as long as it is less than 3 years old. This
allows for some flexibility in the paper lines. The reason this is week
three is to allow for any shipping issues. If you aren't sure how old
your paper is (yes, I have some ancient ones), please DO NOT use it for
this round of the swap. There are a lot of beautiful ones available and
if money is an issue for this point, you may want to re-consider
joining a demanding swap such as this one.

Week Four will follow
some type of theme. Just create an item relating to the named theme.
It can be a swap piece, a card, something else or even something with
one of the named theme items listed. Just give it some thought and feel
free to think outside the box.

Week Five of each round will be
an ATC. As in week four, all that will be given is a theme. Please
keep your atc's to standard size (following [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
rules as linked above). ATC pockets/bags are optional. Please
remember to sign the back of your cards with a minimum of your screen
name - thanks Smile

Week
Six is our easiest and most difficult spot this year. It will be 100%
choice. That means you determine what you make, what papers you use and
everything. Last year, when I opened things up a bit with this swap, I
found the creativity so wonderful that I hope to achieve that again.
That said, remember that regular swap items are always
allowed/accepted/wonderful! We joined this swap because we love to swap
Smile

Week
Seven will focus around bizarre/strange/unusual holidays. I find it
quite amazing that there is some type of holiday for almost every day of
the year, so figured it is time to celebrate some of them. So, just
stick with the theme - and enjoy!

Week Eight will use the KISS
(keep it simple silly) principle. It also is my way of making each
grouping a type of mini-kit for everyone. You will create a journal
item (with or without pocket/holder) for each participant that
coordinates with one of the other items created this round. Ex: if you
fell in love with a particular Graphic 45 paper and made photo mats for
that week, you could choose to make the journal item from the same
paper line. Or, if you really like the Shaped item (aka deco item) you
made for week one, use the same shape in a journal item for week eight.

Hey Kelley, if you sit this one out you won't qualify for the amazing covers I'm gong to make for the amazing mini album pages I will be making every round ...
OK, amazing may be a bit of an exaggeration ... cause to be honest the pages I made for round one are a little on the boring side ... inspiration was simply not hitting me ...

We really do need a few more sign ups for this ... this is a great swap everyone ...

Re: 52 Week Swap Round 2 - Due June 12, 2012

Yes, it would be awesome.

How about this - invite a friend to join and complete a round. At the end of the round, I will put your name, and hers into a drawing for an embossing folder. If either of you win, you both win one! And, I promise to get them mailed back with the return of that round (you all know how bad I am at shipping out prizes - if I do it with the swap, we know it happens quicker - sorry, but I know me).

At the end of this year's swap - anyone who has participated in at least 5 rounds will be put in the drawing for a cricut cartridge! (same as above - if you were invited/invited a friend - you will both win) The cartridge will also be sent back with the final round of the 52 week swap.

FAQ: What if I am not in the 52 week swap, but I invite a member who joins the 52 week swap and completed it? Am I still eligible? you bet! You don't have to be in the 52 week swap to qualify

FAQ: If you invite someone, please email or pm me their screen name so I approve them right away.

FAQ: Only members who are participating in at least 5 rounds of the 52 week swap will be eligible for the cricut cartridge drawing. I do not know what cartridge it will be just yet.

This applies to all current members of our board.
